“Glass Eye” is a term often used to refer to all artificial eyes, however very few ocularists master the art of working with glass. Glass is chemically inert, very dense and homogenous it is the ideal material to make ocular prostheses with. Its flame polished surface is perfectly smooth enabling excellent wettability and a realistic brilliant appearance.
Wearing an ocular prosthesis allows the eye lids to move naturally. Tear fluid moistens and lubricates the glass eye effectively and in so doing reduces any physiological or aesthetic discomfort. An ocular prosthesis can be worn permanently, day and night. With a little practice and some tricks you can learn how to improve the “glance” even more. We can help you with this.
